The Portuguese Community of Vancouver, or PCOV, has a vibrant history that traces its roots back to April 1962 when a dedicated group of individuals came together at the corner of Fraser and Kingsway. What started as a simple gathering spot for card games and soccer enthusiasts quickly blossomed into a cherished hub for the local Portuguese community.
Over the years, the PCOV has evolved into more than just a physical space; it’s a place where friendships were forged, traditions were celebrated, and connections were nurtured. Our founders’ vision transformed the PCOV into a welcoming spot where the community could come together, share experiences, and create lasting memories.

The PCOV proudly looks back on a legacy filled with remarkable moments. In 1998, we had the honour of hosting Benefica for a memorable dinner. We’ve also been the stage for the glamorous Miss PCOV pageants, showcasing the beauty and talent of our community’s finest. And who can forget the unforgettable dinner with the one and only Eusébio da Silva Ferreira? But the PCOV wouldn’t be what it is today without the support, dedication, and hard work of countless individuals — past supporters, directors, presidents, and committed community members. Their contributions have been instrumental in shaping the PCOV into the vibrant and thriving organization it is today.
